The Frenchman Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport Ford), five times world champion in title, kept the lead of the Rally Monte Carlo after the second day Friday (ES3-ES8).
He was ahead of his former Otto teammate Ott Tänak, passed at Toyota this winter, 14 sec 9/10 and Spaniard Dani Sordo (Hyundai) 59 sec 7/10.
Norway’s Andreas Mikkelsen, a team-mate of the latter, was forced to retire in the morning, suffering from a mechanical problem (alternator) at the start of SS4.
